Texas Tech Football Secures Top FCS Defensive Back from Transfer Portal

The college football transfer portal has been buzzing with significant commitments as teams prepare for the 2025 season. Across the country, schools are making strategic moves to strengthen their rosters before the offseason. Texas Tech is one of those teams aiming for a Big 12 title next year.

On Wednesday, the Red Raiders made a major move by securing a commitment from one of the top players in the transfer portal. Former North Dakota State safety Cole Wisniewski has chosen to play for Texas Tech next season, according to Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic.

Wisniewski stood out as one of the best players in the FCS in 2023. Despite being part of a highly talented North Dakota State team that has produced numerous NFL players, Wisniewski shone brightly. He earned FCS All-American honors and led all of Division I college football with eight interceptions.

Although he missed the 2024 season due to injury, Wisniewski is now set to make the jump from FCS to FBS, joining the Power Five conference. He is eager to continue showcasing his skills at a higher level of competition.

This commitment is a significant boost for Texas Tech as they look to strengthen their defense and make a serious run for the Big 12 title in the upcoming season. Wisniewski’s proven ability and leadership will add depth to the Red Raiders’ secondary.
