Four people were injured after a small plane crashed into three cars on a South Texas street Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. in Victoria, with authorities confirming that all four were taken to nearby hospitals.
Three of the injured had non-life-threatening injuries, while the fourth required higher-level care at a different facility. Victoria police said they were also evaluating the pilot’s condition at the scene.
The crash happened when the twin-engine Piper PA-31 landed on Mockingbird Lane, a feeder road near Zac Lentz Parkway (State Highway Loop 463) in Victoria, located about 85 miles north of Corpus Christi.
Deputy Police Chief Eline Moya expressed relief that the situation wasn’t worse, noting the rarity of such an incident. “We’re glad that people seem to be OK, and they are getting checked out,” she told reporters.
Images from the scene showed the plane split in half near a highway overpass. Social media footage also showed the plane flying low before landing on the street. The FAA has launched an investigation into the crash.
