Britney Spears’ Dad Jamie Has Leg Amputation, Singer Eyes Reconciliation

Britney Spears is warming up to the idea of rekindling her notoriously fraught relationship with dad Jamie as he recovers from a leg amputation.

The elder Spears, 71, suffered an infection that necessitated five surgeries during a weeks-long stay in the hospital last month. He ultimately lost the limb when none of those operations could contain the infection, sources with direct knowledge of the situation told TMZ.

Spears is still battling “other ailments,” the outlet says. He is also battling renewed backlash after the late October release of his pop star daughter’s bombshell memoir.

“The Woman in Me” delves deep into the 42-year-old “Stronger” singer’s 13-year conservatorship, orchestrated in large part by her father.

Though Jamie Spears reportedly feels unfairly maligned, both by the public and by his daughter, the estranged pair are both open to a potential reconciliation, insiders told TMZ.

In addition to saying she misses him, Britney Spears has reportedly discussed helping her dad by sending him some money.

Jamie Spears isn’t the only member of the family with whom the “Circus” singer is open to mending fences.

Britney Spears has reportedly already started doing so, having invited mom Lynne and little sister Jamie Lynn to her birthday party this past weekend. The superstar and her mother, 68, are said to have gotten back in touch weeks ago.

Lynn, along with Spears’ brother Bryan, did make it to the festivities, while Jamie-Lynn, 32 — whose own medical issues saw her make an early exit recently from “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” — didn’t make it. However, she and Britney have also been in touch, per TMZ.

Prior to leaving “I’m a Celebrity,” Jamie Lynn told the reality show that she does love her sister and had always looked up to her.
